Japanese punk rock band うずひ (Uzuhi) came to town! It was very exciting, and as soon as M and I walked in with our awesome bandanas that displayed the kanji ichiban (meaning #1 in Japanese) around a red rising sun, the band came up to us and we exchanged a hey-you're-awesome moment!
Their music is hyper punk rock that is juxtaposed with melodic Japanese instrument keyboard effects. Even the singing styles of the lead singer and the keyboard girl are so completely opposite, that the way they mesh it all together just makes you want to happily bounce around, really hard.
My attempts to congregate my Japanese classmates at the show failed; but a classmate did say that their self titled music video Uzuhi is like Japan on crack! Of course.. that's all the Japanese music I've encountered so far! The drummer is THE CUTEST JAPANESE MAN I HAVE SEEN IN MY LIFE!
This is the awesome photo we had taken with Uzuhi! We're the ones with bandanas!
The drummer is the one with the bunny on his shirt!
The Studio Gangsters were hilarious. At first I was like.. who are those douchebags in tracksuits? Then when they got on stage I had a moment of understanding. They were very hilarious with tracks like "Who's your Daddy" and "I stole your remote control". There was this one guy who's position was to basically stand on stage, nod his head and be awesome. He was wearing a blue suit with a half buttoned shirt, thick rimmed glasses, and had a gun belt buckle. You can actually see him bobbing his head and grabbing his belt-buckle in the video below!
I enjoyed The Lesser Pauls, they had a style slightly similar to The Yeah Yeah Yeah's.
