Voltaire at DragonCon!

I got to meet Voltaire! You can probably tell from the photo how much excitement was bursting from my face. I dragged my friends back out at 1:30am in order to go see him play, and I'm glad to say that they really enjoyed his performance and witty banter. Also, he humped a balloon into oblivion. This was his 11th year at DragonCon, and it was by far his hairiest. He claimed that it was because he let himself go a little since he got married, but I think the hairy look works for him very well.
He performed a rendition of Vampire Ball completely redone to include Twilight details, which was hilarious. See video!

I missed seeing The Cruxshadows, but I got to chat with Rogue for a while and he assures me that the Goth Cruises are super-awesome because it is open-bar and open-menu all the time! "You can just order 7 lobster trays one after the other and just eat all of it if you want to!" - Rogue.
His hair is even pointier when you're right in front of him.

Meeting them reminded me just how much fun it is to just be goth! Because sometimes, you forget just a little when you don't know other goths.

League of Legends Champions DragonCon 2010

Here are my friends and I pictured as champions from the mmo League of Legends! It is a game where you play 5v5 or 3v3 on a map against other players and get to own each other based on how fast you level up to 18, how many minions and opposing champions you kill, and what items you buy. We are (from the left) Garen, Ryze, Ezreal, and Singed. Dragoncon was a blast, and we loved dressing up; it was very exciting when people recognized our characters.

The user Arafel said the following on the LoL forums: "They all had pretty good costumes, except that a girl was Ryze and a guy was Ezreal." That gave us many lols because Ryze is actually a bald guy, and Ezreal is a really anime character that looks like a tween.

There were so many events to check out and we checked out only a fraction of them. I went to a Star Trek panel which included Ryker, La Forge, Troi, and Data. They were answering the crowd's questions but ended up ragging on each other mostly. They had a Trekkie costume contest, broke the record for most Trekkies in one place. We also checked out an after dark sexy costume contest which got pretty rowdy, and a WOW gameshow panel with special guest Oxhorn. Later that night there was a WOW danceparty social, but the ratio of girls to guys was terrible, and while there were people actually dancing it was very awkward for everyone involved. Or maybe just us.

There were numerous concerts and dj's. I got to meet Voltaire and Rogue of The Cruxshadows!

My favorite part of the trip was definitely being recognized, and also being asked to pose for photos. I'm a little concerned about my peeling paint, and hope some terrible photos don't surface where my paint just looks terrible. As one guy said "We'll fix it in post op." Yes, I really hope you do.

Some comments we received:
"You just made my life!"
"Singed, keep flinging."

T-1 days until DRAGONCON!

This weekend I will be invading Atlanta with my friends for my first ever Dragoncon event! I am beyond excited because my friends and I have been working on our costumes, and they are looking pretty damn good for super cheap costumes.

We have a group of 4 people and we are all dressing up as League of Legends characters! Out characters come complete with some jokes, taunts, and even a dance. We have Garen, Ezreal, Singed, and RYZE! My character is Ryze, who is totally OP in the first season trailer of LoL, and who is a badass rougue mage. Oh, and since Ryze is a guy and I'm not going to shave my head, or grow a beard and a penis, I'm going to be sexy girl Ryze! So, basically all that awesomeness + bewbs

So stoked.
