Video Feature: Skinny Puppy

I've been on a Skinny Puppy kick lately and I decided to enlighten M about what I grew up on, but I kind of took a backwards approach to it - introducing him first to their Pro-Test video from their album The Greater Wrong of the Right. By the time this album was released after a 8 year hiatus, I consider it to be just Ohgr and cEvin Key releasing stuff under the Skinny Puppy name, without any of the original feel (like I'm sure every other fan would say). So, probably not the best introduction to the band, but ANYWAY what I discovered while watching this just now made me see this video in a whole new way.

I have never noticed how near the end of their video Pro-Test (where a group of goths have a breakdancing battle with some street kids) that 2 black guys in cammo and combat boots come OUT OF NOWHERE, do some crazy crump breakdancing, and then beat up one of the street kids. With breakdancing moves. I mean, the cammo, the combat boots, beating people up, angstily breakdancing and stuff - my first impression was: AW SHIT the rivetheads showed up!

Skinny Puppy and Dark City mashup!

I have just discovered the YouTube Doubler and have created an awesome mash-up of the fight scene in the movie Dark City along with Skinny Puppy's "Morpheus Laughing."

I've always had mixed feelings about Dark City. I'm a sucker for cyberpunk themes but I always thought the acting was awkward. This is the same reason I had trouble accepting Bladerunner. Regardless, the fight scene in Dark City is visually epic, full of mind-powers and destruction of buildings. The very first time I saw the movie, years and years ago, before the takeover of the internets and YouTube, I actually put my tv set on mute and turned this track on. And I thought I was being original for creating what is now popularly known as a mashup.
I think fans would like it.
Let the epicness ensue after the jump!
